Ted Hodgson is the President and owner of New Market Connect. Ted Hodgson retired in 2012 from the U.S. Army rising through the ranks from Private to Colonel while serving 34 years on active and reserve duty.

His last military assignment was the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Logistics Strategic Policy lead for the Northern Distribution Network (NDN) and the Silk Road Initiative.

Ted developed and implemented the CENTCOM Northern Distribution Network Campaign Plan which
established a key supply chain enabler for Afghanistan. It also became a key Central Asia policy engagement strategy for State Department and Central Command. He has led several negotiations with Central Asian Countries supporting this effort.

Ted Hodgson is also one of the “founding fathers” of the Silk Road Initiative which was the CENTCOM plan to support and develop Afghanistan and the surrounding Region’s economic development. The Silk Road Initiative focuses on coordinating and supporting the
development of the Region’s transportation infrastructure, commerce and trade practices. The State Department has taken the U.S. Government lead for the Silk Road Initiative and it is now part of the key economic strategy for Afghanistan and the Region.

In addition to the Central Asia region, Ted Hodgson has worked extensively with the Government of Jordan. While at CENTCOM He was the CENTCOM lead for a series of negotiations with the Jordanian Government which resulted in approval for the U.S. to redeploy, and eventually deploy, military unit equipment and cargo through Jordan. This was absolutely critical for ensuring President Obama’s timeline was met for the U.S. drawdown in Iraq. Ted Hodgson also initiated, at the request of the Afghanistan Government, U.S. Government support for the development of a strategic rail plan for Afghanistan. Ted Hodgson led a group of senior leadership from the U.S. commercial rail industry, Department of Transportation rail experts, U.S. Transportation Command experts and other rail subject experts to provide a plan which would support Afghanistan’s economic development.

He has been interviewed on National Public Radio’s The Takeaway, Transportation Nation and spoken at several events such as the International Transport Union’s annual meeting in Geneva and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Ted Hodgson has over seven years of command time in his thirty-four years of military service. His assignments include Commander, 458 the Air Terminal Movement Control Team, Haiti, 1994 and Commander, 1151 st Trans (Rail), Bosnia, 1997-1998.
